Integrated payment processing is a great way to simplify the processing of taking credit card payments in OrderTrac, as well as reconciling payments at the end of the day.
Both card present (customer swipes/inserts the card on a terminal) and card not present (you type in the credit card number) transaction types are supported.
The biggest advantage for using an integrated payment processor is:
Card present transactions are payments made where the customer is present and they swipe/insert/tap their credit card on the credit card terminal. This is the most secure and preferred method since it also results in cheaper credit card transaction fees due to the increased security measures a terminal offers.
When you are ready to accept payment, you simple click Add Payment, enter an amount, select Credit/Debit as the method and Terminal as the process option, and click Save. This will send the transaction information to the terminal where the screen will light up with the payment amount, and the customer will swipe/enter/tap their card to complete the payment. That is all there is to it!
Check out this clip of how easy it is to process a credit card payment:

You can process card present transactions from both a sales order and the POS register, so you can quickly accept payment and get the customer on their way.
Card not present transactions are necessary when your customer wants to make a payment over the phone. Without the card present to swipe on the terminal, you can instead just type in the card number. This is also fast and easy.
You would follow the same steps for the terminal payment, except choose the Enter Card option instead of the Terminal option. You then just type in the card details.

The customer portal is a quick and easy way for customers to make payments themselves. They would log in using their customer ID, and enter their credit card info to make a payment

With a manual credit card machine, usually you want to take a list of all payments made through the machine and try to match them up with payments recorded in OrderTrac in order to make sure all payments were properly recorded in OrderTrac.
This process usually reveals certain payments made through the credit card machine that do not match up with a payment recorded in OrderTrac. This is due to the employee either typing in the amount wrong into the credit card machine, or they recorded the payment wrong in OrderTrac.
You might find a payment processed through the machine but the employee forgot to record it in OrderTrac. This is bad because then you have to confront the customer about a due payment who insists they already paid!
You may even find a payment recorded in OrderTrac however there is no record of the payment in the credit card machine because the employee forgot to do both steps and didn't process the payment. Or maybe the payment failed and the employee didn't realize it. This might be the worst case scenario since you show that you recorded the payment however you didn't actually receive the payment.
All of this can be eliminated simply by using an integrated payment processor. Processing and recording payments is the same step, so there is no room for error. With every payment processing through OrderTrac, the transaction ID from the processor is stored so you can easily match up payments made in OrderTrac with a report from your payment processor.
